Principal's Message
As the proud principal of Susan Miller Dorsey High School, I am pleased to announce that as a result of the fall 2007 visit, the Western Association of Schools and Colleges has granted Dorsey High School an accreditation term of 3 years. Before the end of the 3 years, we must submit a progress report on critical areas of improvement and on the school wide Action Plan. I want to thank administrators, faculty, staff, students, parents and community members who participated in this process. We worked collaboratively on this project for well over a year. The congratulatory letter from WASC and the school’s Action Plan are posted on this web site.
I am also pleased to announce that three new Small Learning Communities (SLC’s): Career Technical Arts (CTA), Arts & Humanities (A+H) and REACH (Recreation, Education, Athletics, Careers and Health) have now joined the already existing Ninth Grade Academy, Law/Public Service Magnet, Police Academy Magnet, and the Math/Science Magnet. We are now wall-to-wall with Small Learning Communities. Teachers and students are now in contiguous space which helps promote more personalization between adults and students.
As the end of my fourth year as principal nears, from the bottom of my heart I thank all of you for your continuous support. Dorsey Pride!
George E. Bartleson, Principal
