Tardy Policy
Faculty members should not allow any student into the classroom after the late bell rings for every single period. Students are to go to the Main Entrance to pick up a late pass. Teachers may establish their own classroom consequences for tardy students. Campus Police may cite any students not in class and/or arriving to campus after 8:30 A.M.

1st Tardy Warning Documented
2nd Tardy Warning Documented (Teacher calls home if it is a second tardy to the same period)
3rd Tardy Call home from attendance office; tardy documented.
4th Tardy Call home from attendance office; letter home with Tardy Policy; tardy documented.
5th Tardy *Referral to Small Learning Community Leader/Counselor; detention assigned; phone conference with parent/guardian in which SLC leader/counselor informs student and parent/guardian of future consequences; tardy and meeting/phone conference documented.

* Small Learning Community = Ninth Grade Academy. Math/Science Magnet. Police Academy or Law and Public Service Magnet.
6th Tardy Referral to Dean; 2 hour Saturday tutoring/detention assigned; Dean notifies student of future consequences; tardy and meeting documented.
7th Tardy Referral to Dean; 4 hour Saturday School assigned; phone conference with parent/guardian in which Dean notifies parent/guardian of future consequences; tardy and meeting/phone conference documented.
8th Tardy Referral to Assistant Principal; phone conference with parent; 4 hour Saturday tutoring/detention assigned; written letter from District given to student and mailed home, tardy and meeting/phone conference documented.
9th Tardy Referral to Assistant Principal; parent conference in which future consequences are discussed; student is ineligible to participate in extra-cumcular activities. Activities include: leadership, band, cheerleading, athletics, senior activities, etc. A memo of Tardy Ineligible students will be sent to all staff members. A student will be inelgible for 10 weeks. If the student is tardy during this period, they will be ineligible for 10 more weeks.
***lf necessary and applicable the student will be ineligible the following school year in order to complete the 10 weeks.
10th Tardy If student continues being tardy the School Attendance Review Team Process (SART) will be initiated. Parent is given written notification about the SART Process. This process is a very serious legal procedure that attempts to solve the problem and may include finding an alternative placement or referring the parent/guardian and student to court.
