Our main activity is participation in speech tournament on various school campuses, along with students from across the district. There are debates, a student congress and individual events featuring rehearsed and spontaneous speeches, borrowed and original materials. To maximize preparation time, I do not limit meetings to one particular day, but work with speakers everyday at lunch and after school by arrangement. No description of speech club would be complete without emphasis on its relevance to the student's academic success and preparation for college or work, since it develops communication and social skills.
