Over the past three years, Dorsey High School has set rigorous academic standards, raising its API score for 3 consecutive years. The students at Dorsey are extremely engaged in the Baldwin Hills and Crenshaw community and are often involved in multiple extra-curricular activities, ranging from academics to athletics. This year a Dorsey Student, Victoria Goodwin, won best Prosecution attorney when set against schools both private and public. Dorsey’s Decathlon Team won 3rd place in the 2007 Super Quiz competition and student Dale Alexander placed 2nd overall among 180 students competing in the music and 5th overall in the science category. This year, Dorsey students were also recipients of the prestigious Los Angeles Times The Color Purple essay contest. Dorsey is hosting our first annual musical, named Phi La, this spring (May 16, 2008) under the directorship of Mr. Jamaal Speakes. Additionally, Dorsey athletic teams continually attend city and state championships, making it a stronghold in the greater Los Angeles Area. Community involvement and sponsorships will directly impact these students and their extra curricular activities. Without support, programs may collapse. You can register online here in a few days!
